Membership

We welcome new members to the HGI all the time – anyone keen to support our work can join the Institute as an Associate Member. Our professional categories of membership align with the SCoPEd framework columns A, B and C and are open to those who have passed the Human Givens Diploma.

A brief overview of the various membership categories is given below. Click the ‘read more’ link to read the full details. Members must pay an annual membership fee and abide by the conditions set for their particular level of HGI membership.


General

  • Associate Member – AHGI
    Open to anyone who is interested in, or keen to support and be part of, the development and spread of the human givens insights and approach. Many retired HG therapists retain Associate Membership.  Read more >

Professional levels

  • Trainee Member
    All successful graduates of Part 2 of the Human Givens Diploma are invited to join the Institute as a Trainee Member of the HGI (previously known as Graduate Membership, GHGI). Trainee Membership is a prerequisite for Part 2 graduates who are seeing clients.  Read more >
  • Registered Member – MHGI
    Designation for both newly qualified and experienced HG practitioners, who have successfully passed all three parts of the Human Givens Diploma and registered with the HGI.
    This equates to Column A of the SCoPEd framework.  Read more >
  • Accredited Member – MHGI (Accred)
    Designation for experienced HG practitioners who choose to apply and can demonstrate the required hours of training and therapy, and safe, effective and ethical practice.
    This equates to Column B of the SCoPEd framework.  Read more >
  • Senior Accredited Member – MHGI (Snr Accred)
    Designation for experienced HG practitioners who choose to apply and can demonstrate that they are capable of taking an active role within the professional community, along with evidence of the required hours of training and therapy, and safe, effective and ethical practice.

  • Fellows – FHGI
    The Institute also has the power to elect as Fellows (FHGI) registered, accredited or senior accredited members who have made a distinctive contribution to human givens studies or its teaching or application. Read more >
  • Honorary Member – HonHGI
    Honorary Memberships may also be awarded for outstanding contributions to the field.  Read more >
