Publication of sanctions and conditions relating to upheld complaints 

Policy Statement

Where complaints against HGI registrants are upheld, details of any sanctions and/or conditions applied, with the exception of the measure of providing an advice, will be published on the HGI Register.

Registrants of the Human Givens Institute (HGI)

Removal from the HGI Register

Where a practitioner has been removed from the HGI Register of qualified therapists, details of the removal and the related circumstances will be published on the online HGI Register.

Associated timeframe: The above information will be displayed for a period of five years from the date on which the RPSC adjudication panel specified that the practitioner be removed from the Register.

Suspensions from the HGI Register

Where a Registrant has been suspended from the HGI Register, information to this effect, together with details of any sanctions or conditions will be published on the online HGI Register.

Associated timeframe: Details of sanctions or conditions applied in the above circumstance will be displayed for the period of the suspension, will be decided on a case by case basis by the HGI Registration and Professional Standards Committee (RPSC).

Notes:

1. On the expiry of the agreed period of suspension, the RPSC will decide whether or not to cancel or extend the suspension, depending on the registrant’s conformity to the required conditions, any corrective action, the learnings made and evidence of contrition;
2. Any set period will be the minimum that the RPSC considers necessary for the protection of the public and it should not exceed three years.

Publication of sanctions or conditions where removal or suspension from the HGI Register is not indicated

Where de-registration or suspension is not indicated in respect of upheld complaints, details of any sanctions or conditions applied to registrants, with the exception of the measure of providing an advice, will be published on the HGI Register.

Associated timeframe: Details of sanctions or conditions applied in the above circumstance will be displayed on the HGI Register for a period time to be decided by the RPSC on a case-by-case basis. Note: Any set period will be the minimum that the RPSC considers necessary for the protection of the public and it should not exceed three years.

The provision of an advice

The provision of an advice is the measure that can be applied as appropriate where the failing or conduct is at the lower end of the spectrum. Provision of an advice has no direct effect on a therapist’s practice and will be issued only if he or she is fit to continue practising without any restrictions. The provision of an advice will remain on the therapist’s record (held by the Human Givens Institute) for a set period of time, to be determined by the RPSC and can be taken into account if subsequent complaints are received. The fact that there has been a provision of an advice is not published on the HGI website.
