Raising concerns

The HGI takes safe-guarding of the public and any complaints very seriously.

All fully qualified and trainee members of the HGI recommit to the Ethics and Conduct Policy annually when renewing their membership – their professional conduct should always reflect this.

If you do have a concern or grievance, however, we recommend that, wherever possible, you should attempt first to resolve it directly with the individual therapist concerned. If you have tried this without success, or if you would prefer to deal with the complaint through us from the outset, please follow our Complaints Procedure. Any complaint will be considered by the HGI Registration and Professional Standards Committee (RPSC).

To make a complaint, please notify the HGI at your earliest opportunity.

Please note – the RPSC can consider complaints against a therapist only if the therapist was a registered, accredited, senior accredited or trainee member at the time of the alleged incident(s). Only in exceptional circumstances will complaints be considered if made more than seven years after the date of the alleged event(s).

If you (or the therapist concerned) are dissatisfied with the decision of the RPSC, you are entitled to appeal to an independent panel. Please see HGI Appeal Panel Guidelines for details of how to do so.

Complaints against the HGI

If you wish to make a complaint against the Human Givens Institute itself (rather than against an individual human givens therapist), please read the following document EOC complaints procedure and complete the EOC complaints form.
